Spike Tips : Gelatin
"Knox gelatine- It's the only thing I've ever tried, and it's all i've ever needed. It holds liberty spikes in excess of 5 inches. I've heard it can hold as long as 3 feet, but I dunno. I mixed all four packets of a box of gelatine with about a cup of water and nuked it for 30 sec. It smells like a wet dog, which is the main downside, also it melts in rain. Then i wet my hair a little and put the gelatine mix in with my hands like i'm shampooing. if the gel is still kinda hot and thin, you've got a few seconds to pull up random spikes and shape them. It helps to bend all the way over. If the gel has cooled too much, it won't get worked all the way into your hair, and you'll have lumps and it will be terrible. it dries up and hardens pretty fast- I usually just count to twenty really slow before I stand up. wash it off your hand as fast as you can, or it's next to impossible - also wipe it off your forehead and ears, so it doesn't make you look like a burn victim. put the gel you didn't use in the fridge, and just heat it up when you need it again. it loses some water through evaporation though, so you might need to add a little water when you do. My friend Doug says he never could get knox to work with his hair, but he used elmers and it worked great. He had pretty long liberty spikes. So try Knox first, cos it's really easy to wash out (and more economical), and if it doesn't work then you're probably like doug, and elmer's should work. Happy Punking, and send me pics of your spikes!" - Alex, Jul 19 2001

"I use dental rubberbands to clump my hair togeter then i take 1 cup water and 1 pack of knox gelitan mix and heat it up for 20 sec's or whatever, apply a layer of liquid knox spike by spike. Then after it gets workable I take the gelitan knox that has been sitting for a while and make my hair sharp as hell!! works great, but takes a while thats why i dont take it out for 2-3 days." - Joe, Apr 30 2001

"Knox works wonders, its so hard it twangs! Its really not that hard to wash out, either. Only problem is it smells like dog shit. Anyone know a way to keep it from reeking so bad?" - Will, Apr 30 2001

"first mix the know jello, add that to your hair and rub it in really good when the gell is a as good consitency. Then add raw egg whites to your hair, then put yourself upside down and make your spikes, when semi hard ( good enoughto stand up) then use ICE hair spiken paste or CREW hair fiber to make that shit perfic. I have hela f*cken curly hair and i have not washed it for like a month and two weeks. I re-do my hair like every three or four days. I tried useing elmers glue but my hair got really flakey and like pure white and looked hella gay but now it looks ill as hell...... ANYBODY WITH PUNKISH HAIR PICS, PLEASE E-MAIL ME A.S.A.P.!!!!!!!MuDvAyNe....." - lethal mother f*cker, Apr 25 2001

"Get some gellatine from your local supermarket and boil half the amount of recommended water in the instructions. after u've boiled the water, put the gellatine in and stir with a spoon until its all dissolved. it stinks like a bitch, but really good. then when its dissolved, put it in the fridge for 2 or 3 minutes to cool it down quickly. dont leave it too long or itll go hard. pour the gellatine which should still be like a liquid, over your hair and rub it in. use allllll the gellatine in the packet. and then hold ure head upside down for a while and the gellatine will quickly harden, then u can mould your spikes. itll dry in pretty soon and u can put ure head back up again... one packet lasted me 4 days and it would have lasted longer i'm sure. if you use 2 packets u have to watch that u dont break ure hair. "Ok....first i get knox gellitan and rub it in really good and i also use ICE spiker and rub that in good too. Then i blow dry it till i can really work with my hair. Then i put my head upside down and make the spikes. It takes about an hour and a half but it works hella good." - zach, Mar 28 2001

"Knox gelatin. Often called "punker's wet dream". Get a bowl you dont use often. fill it up with water according to how much gel you want/need. Put it in the microwave for 30-45 seconds. Pour 1 to 1 1/2 packets of knox gelatin, stirring it until it dissolves. Let it sit until it turns to a hair gel consistency. Put it into individual spikes, or mohawk it. blow dry til hard. It lasts up to a week. It also supports hair up to 3 feet long." - Noah, Feb 08 2001
