Okay, so it's only plain white sauce, one of the basic elements of cooking. But it's very useful. With it you can make curry sauce, cheese sauce, garlic sauce, etc. You can put it on rice, noodles, toast and add tuna, vegetables, chicken...you get the idea. I call it the super survival sauce since you can make it quite easily for multiple purposes. It's usual to double this recipe if serving 4 people.
Ingredients2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
2 tablesspoons of flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup of milkMicrowave Directions
Microwave the butter/margarine on low until melted. Stir in flour (a whisk would be best) and microwave on high for a minute. Stir again and microwave for another minute. Add the salt and the cup of milk. Stir thoroughly and microwave for 2 minutes on high. Stir and microwave for another minute, then stir to see if getting thick. Repeat until sauce is relatively thickened.
